Hive and Aira team up to drive heat pump adoption and save UK households on heating costs
Green heating leaders, Hive and Aira, have joined forces to make heat pumps more accessible and affordable in the UK. Their new partnership is helping homeowners switch to sustainable heating without upfront costs. Instead, customers can pay monthly, making the transition more budget-friendly.

Managing Director of Hive, Dan Rosenfield, commented:
“Domestic heating is one of the largest emitters of carbon in the UK which is why we’re collaborating with other like-minded businesses to address this challenge and help customers make the switch to a lower-carbon future.”
Hive customers who switch to an Aira Heat Pump could save up to 29% on heating bills. This move builds on Hive’s strong track record—over the past 11 years, it has saved customers £490 million and reduced 1.6 billion kilos of carbon emissions.
Aira brings a unique offering to the table. The company provides an industry-first 15-year guarantee and a hassle-free, all-inclusive payment plan. Their expertise in clean energy technology, combined with Hive’s smart home solutions, are fast-tracking heat pump adoption across the country.
Martin Lewerth, Aira Group CEO, laid out the necessity of the heat pump rollout:
“In some of the coldest parts of Europe such as Scandinavia, heat pump technology has been widely used to heat homes for decades, and yet, nations like the UK are still in the very early stages of adoption. Building on Hive’s leadership in the smart home space, this partnership will help solidify heat pumps as a cleaner and more affordable heating solution for UK households, increasing awareness and accessibility – and ultimately supporting the clean-energy transition.”
The timing is critical. The UK government has set a goal of installing 600,000 heat pumps per year by 2028, yet only 60,000 were installed in 2024. With 25 million homes still using gas boilers, the need for change is urgent.

This partnership aligns with recent government initiatives, such as relaxing planning restrictions and increasing funding for heat pump installations.
Dan Rosenfield continued:
“Our partnership with Aira brings together the best of British tech and innovative Scandinavian design to provide customers with more choice in how they electrify their home heating.
