OVO and Vaillant launch Heat Pump Plus trial to optimise energy use
OVO Energy has teamed up with Vaillant UK and Nesta to launch a new trial called Heat Pump Plus flex. Together, they are optimising energy use and reducing consumption while keeping homes warm and comfortable. As the UK moves towards electrification of heating, making heat pumps more efficient will be key.
The trial focuses on using energy when the grid is at its greenest. This means using electricity when renewable sources like wind and solar power are abundant. OVO will remotely adjust the heat pump settings in the background. In doing so, they’ll ensure homes stay warm while reducing energy use during peak times.
Customers who join the trial will still pay a flat rate of 15p/kWh for their energy. They will have control over their desired home temperature and can opt out of the trial at any time. However, to earn a £100 high street voucher, participants must complete the trial.
The trial is open to eligible OVO customers with a compatible Vaillant heat pump (aroTHERM 3 or aroTHERM Plus, post-2016) and a connected myVAILLANT internet gateway. OVO customers who have signed up for the Heat Pump Plus add-on will receive an exclusive invite to join.
Once in the trial, customers will provide feedback to OVO and complete a short survey. At the end of the trial, OVO will send out the £100 voucher as a thank you.
