• Panasonic and tado° introduce a heat pump solution, combining Aquarea technology with smart energy management systems.
  • The system optimises energy use by adjusting consumption to periods of low-cost or renewable energy availability.
  • Launching this autumn in select European markets, the solution aims to enhance energy efficiency and home comfort.

Panasonic and tado° have developed a new smart heat pump system to save energy, and reduce bills

Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions has teamed up with tado° to offer a new integrated solution for European homes. Their collaboration combines Panasonic’s Aquarea air-to-water heat pump technology with tado°’s smart heating systems. The result is an energy-efficient, fully integrated system that will be available this November.

The Aquarea heat pump is a cost-effective system that provides both heating and cooling using natural refrigerant R290. tado° adds smart energy management with its Heat Pump Optimizer X and Balance software.

This system helps households optimise their heat pumps by automatically adjusting energy use. The app allows users to improve efficiency by timing electricity consumption for periods when renewable energy is cheapest.

For homes with dynamic electricity tariffs in Germany and Austria, Balance identifies the most cost-effective times to run the heat pump. It also integrates weather forecasts to optimise solar panel energy use or heat water when the outside temperature is warmest.

Panasonic’s CEO, Hiroshi Komatsubara, commented:

“I am excited about our collaboration with tado° for smart heat pump solutions. Our partnership has significantly developed since March and has seen us making significant progress in our shared mission to help customers achieve unprecedented levels of energy efficiency and savings, whilst continuously optimising comfort for our customers. I truly believe Panasonic’s 60 years of experience in heat pump technology is continuing to grow to provide greater value to our customers by optimising our technology and this opportunity with tado° really demonstrates that.”

The new heat pump system will launch this autumn in selected European markets. Gradually, heating is becoming an integral part of every smart-home set-up. As we’ve seen in the EV world, as systems conglomerate, the services become more efficient and accessible.
